Palliative Care

The Palliative Care project was started in 1975 as a hospital to take care of cancer and palliative care patients from the vicinity. In those days, this facility was probably one of the first in our nation. It continued for many years and was eventually closed when adequate facilities were created in the government sector. The project however continued as an outpatient facility where the society provides free medicines and treatment for cancer and palliative patients.

This project is supervised by Dr.Geetha Vijay, a volunteer doctor along with a team of trained nurses and staff. At the present moment, the society is providing free medicine and consultation to around 80 patients. We also provide home visits by the nurses and staff to about 30 terminally ill patients in the locality.
