Diabetic Program|GSPI

Diabetes is acknowledged as the silent killer. Often it creeps in without one knowing and the resulting spikes in sugar level can do great damage to internal organs and systems.

The Good Samaritan Project, India has been involved in diabetic treatment programs from its inception in 1975. Over the years, we have organized treatment programs and free medicine disbursement to diabetic patients from the poorer sections of community in and around Hosanna Mount.

At the present time, we have the following projects:

Diabetic Clinic - This diabetic clinic caters to around 300 diabetic patients living in and around the local area. We provide free medication including insulin where required to these patients on a monthly basis. Dr.Augustine Joseph attends the patients of the clinic once a week. He also monitors the pharmacy and guides the nurses and staff employed at the clinic.

Diabetic Home - This diabetic home was started in the early 1980s as a boarding facility for children from poor families who were diagnosed with juvenile diabetes. These children needed to be given insulin injections everyday and so poorer families could not afford or manage the treatment. Over the years, many of these children grew up and eventually left the centre and are living productive lives. A few of the boarders with serious other medical conditions continue to reside at the home and the society continues to take care of these boarders.
